This lecture will cover regional dental nerve blocks utilized in veterinary dentistry, including proper dosing of local anesthetics and safe administration techniques with video instruction.
Throughout her lecture, Dr. Smith will cover:
Dr. Smith will begin with a brief introduction to the importance of regional nerve blocks in veterinary dentistry, followed by an equipment and anatomy overview to establish the foundational knowledge needed for successful nerve block administration. She will then provide detailed instruction on specific nerve blocks, including the infraorbital nerve block in both dogs and cats, the mental nerve block, and both extraoral and intraoral approaches to the inferior alveolar nerve block. Each section will include video demonstrations of proper technique.
By the end of this 50-minute lecture, attendees should be able to identify the general anatomy associated with routine dental nerve blocks, calculate appropriate block dosages, name landmarks for each regional nerve block, and understand which block is appropriate depending on the area of the mouth being treated. Dr. Smith will conclude with a question and answer session to address specific concerns from attendees.
This lecture will consist of a review of the management of acute and chronic diarrhea from an evidence-based approach. The discussion includes an analysis of the common tests and a simple algorithm for treatment.
