Navigating Through the Challenges of Identifying Cutaneous Adverse Food Reactions in Dogs and Cats

This presentation will review the prevalence, symptoms, and gold standard diagnosis of cutaneous adverse food reaction in dogs and cats. We will review common food allergens, allergen cross-reactivity, and cross-contamination in diets. We will look at novel protein, hydrolyzed, prescription, and home-cooked diet options. We will summarize the presentation with diet selection per patient and discuss strategies to facilitate caregiver compliance during the elimination food trial.
