We know that veterinary medicine is not an easy field to get started in. It is important that we support our newest team members, who enter our field with high hopes and sometimes unrealistic expectations. This presentation talks about empathy in a relatable way for veterinary leaders, helping us find a better approach than the standard of telling people to "toughen up."
This is the second of a three-part workshop titled Veterinary Leadership Through Fresh Eyes: A Social Worker's Approach to Veterinary Management. In the fast-paced and ever-changing, modern world, veterinary medicine has fallen behind in several key areas. Our leaders need to find creative ways to build and support our teams, taking proactive approaches to growing and attracting talent. There is much hope, plenty of room, and considerable need for forward thinking professionals to abandon the status quo and begin doing what makes sense.
