After graduating from Murray State University with his bachelors in Animal Health Technology, Justin obtained his RVT in 2008. After working in general practice for a few years he was accepted to the University of Lincoln in the United Kingdom for a masters degree in clinical behavior. There, he finished his degree in clinical animal behavior with a thesis on feline visual cognition. In 2012 he resumed work as a technician at various mixed specialty/emergency hospitals on the eastern seaboard while doing in home canine and feline behavior consults, eventually co-owning his own behavior consulting business. In 2017 he put his professional career on hold for a short while, teaching high school ESL and chemistry in Shanghai, China. After coming back to the U.S. and moving to Los Angeles, he has been working in emergency and critical care. In 2020 he was accepted by AVECCTN as a specialist in emergency and critical care. He is a firm believer that you can always learn something from everyone. His devotion to scholarship has most recently translated to advocacy for the continued development of veterinary nurses, steadily improving the standard of care for our patients. Justin has a passion for exploring new places and travels whenever he can. In his personal time, he enjoys training in mixed martial arts, weightlifting, playing video games, and hanging out with a small group of friends playing Dungeons and Dragons.
