Dr. Leah Pomerantz is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Radiology, bringing a wealth of expertise in diagnostic imaging with a special interest in ultrasound and CT. A true Californian at heart, Dr. Pomerantz was born and raised in Santa Monica, laying the foundation for her impressive academic and professional journey within the Golden State. Her educational path began at Pitzer College in Claremont, where she completed her Bachelor's degree. Dr. Pomerantz then pursued her passion for veterinary medicine at the University of California, Davis, earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Following graduation, she completed a rotating internship at VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital, gaining valuable hands-on experience in a bustling veterinary setting. Eager to broaden her skillset, Dr. Pomerantz spent a year in the Bay Area working as an emergency veterinarian, honing her ability to handle critical cases with precision and care. Her commitment to specialization then led her to the East Coast, where she completed her radiology residency at Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in Massachusetts. This experience not only refined her expertise but also introduced her to the challenges of real New England winters! Now, having completed her residency and experienced life beyond the California sunshine, Dr. Pomerantz has returned to her roots. She is thrilled to be back at VCA West Los Angeles, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and experience to benefit the pets and pet owners of Southern California. When not interpreting diagnostic images or consulting with colleagues, Dr. Pomerantz indulges her passion for culinary arts as an avid cook and food enthusiast. She cherishes time spent with her husband and their beloved one-eyed rescue black Lab, Tom Bombadil, named after the whimsical character from J.R.R. Tolkien's works. This balance of professional dedication and personal interests makes Dr. Pomerantz a well-rounded and compassionate veterinary specialist.
