Cindy is a California native and has been an RVT for over 30 years. She began working at VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital after graduating from Los Angeles Pierce College. She then completed a zookeeper course and did fieldwork at the Los Angeles Zoo. While at VCA, Cindy worked at a variety of general, emergency, and specialty practices, including an exotic animal hospital. In 1999, she completed the rigorous requirements and was accepted to sit for the first Veterinary Technician Specialty exam in Emergency and Critical Care. After passing and receiving her VTS (ECC), she briefly worked in the CCU at the Colorado State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital. She returned to VCA WLA Animal Hospital as one of the Co-Technician Supervisors. She than began the rigorous requirements to complete her VTS (Clinical Practice-Exotic Companion Animal). Currently, she is involved as a member of the Training and Education team. Her interests include CPR, emergency/critical care, exotics companion animals, zoo medicine, wildlife, lecturing, nursing care, pain management, teaching, toxicology, transfusion medicine, trauma, and triage. Cindy was also a part-time Adjunct Instructor for the RVT programs at Platt College – Alhambra and Los Angeles Pierce College. She also volunteered at the Animal Health Center at the Los Angeles Zoo and is currently volunteering at the Ojai Raptor Center. Cindy has a house full of rescued animals that includes a very naughty puppy, chinchillas, guinea pigs and several reptiles
